Never were two Seasons of a TV show so different! Most of my DVD boxsets have been rewatched to the point of knackering the discs, but never Season 4 of Angel.

Convoluted plots, wildly outlandish character behaviour, the most ridiculous twists - teen Connor, the Cordy/Connor sex and consequential pregnancy, the demon Jasmine that gave birth to herself, and Wesley being the bad guy sleeping with Lilah. I didn't like any of it. There are literally only two episodes I can stand, namely Spin the Bottle which was the Angel version of Buffy's Tabula Rasa, and Orpheus with guest appearances from Faith & Willow and flashbacks into Angel's messed up past.

Spin on to Season 5 and everything changed, and I do mean EVERYTHING! Welcome to Wolfram & Hart, now being run by Team Angel. Bye bye Cordy, and enter Spike as Angel's wacky side kick. Lindsey is back as a new kick-ass version of himself (be still my heart!), and the Receptionist is... Harmony?!

Season 5 was hilarious, dramatic, crazy, and awesome. The Fred-to-Illyria switch made me cry at the tragedy and laugh at the madness. The final arc had me on the edge of my seat, right up to 'Lets Go To Work'. Angel went through a very dark, very bad patch for Season 4, but Season 5 was rockin' and I can't believe THAT was where it ended!

I so agree with you about season 4 of Angel, did not like the story line with Jasmine at all and the Connor/Cordy relationship just put me off of the season as well. I liked Spin the Bottle and Orpheus as well.

Season 5 was a welcome sight when it started, it was like back to the way they were somewhat from season 2.Spike coming back was fantastic, The Episode with Lorne not getting any sleep was pretty funny. Saying goodbye to Cordy and Harmony getting framed for murder. And Lindsey coming back, that was something I didn't see coming but I enjoyed it quite a bit. *grin* The Fred/Illyria story line was a bit of a tear jerker, because you could see that Wes was finally seeing Fred in a different light and then have this happen. I was with you about how they ended the the show with Angel saying "Let's go to work" and then fading to black. Let's just say I wasn't too happy with the WB or the CW when they said that Angel wasn't going on for a sixth season. Okay enough of my rambling, I could go on and on about season 5.

Really, you became a Kaniac in S5? S1, Episode 1 and I was LOST!!! Seriously, right then and there. I still can't believe that it's been so long. Never ever have I been a fan of ANYTHING this long.
