Day 30 - Your favorite ship forever and ever and ever?

I actually can't answer this. Its the last day of the meme, a whole months worth of answering these questions, and it comes to the last one... and I'm stumped!!

I have loved so many ships I thought would be forever and then given up or just not cared anymore. Right now I have at least half a dozen ships I love that could be forever, but probably won't be.

So, instead I have decided to go with the awesome

Day 29 - What ship had the best proposal?

I doubt anyone here is going to know who I'm talking about, but the best proposal by far that I ever saw on TV was Alice & Hugo.

These two characters are from an English comedy series called The Vicar of Dibley, starring Dawn French. Since most of my friends here on LJ are American, I'm not convinced you'll have even heard of it, but I could be wrong... Anyway, Alice and Hugo had been friends since childhood and had a crush on each other forever, but they're both a little... um, special? Yeah, okay a little stupid too! lol But they're very sweet and it took forever for them to get together.

Eventually, Hugo decided it was time he married Alice, even though his father defied him to propose. Hugo had to man up and go for it anyway, and this proposal was so incredibly awkward and incredibly sweet at the same time, it had to be my answer for today's question.

Day 28 - A pairing that you will never understand?

goddessofbirth 's answer to this question was possibly the squickiest thing I ever heard, and any kind of incest would have been correct really, but the pairing I had picked out is almost as bad as that: Connor & Cordelia.

Angel: The Series got kinda screwed up in Season 4 anyway, and most people will tell you its their least favourite season (not everybody, but A LOT of people). Connor was fine as a baby, I could even deal with him as a rebellious teen... and then he started macking on Cordelia, and I wanted to vomit!!

I know, I know, he was raised in a hell dimension and she was possessed by a demon that wanted to use her to give birth to itself, BUT that doesn't change the fact that I had to bear witness to a teenage kid making out with the woman that had fed him bottles and changed his diapers a few episodes earlier AND was practically dating his Dad too!

It was every kind of wrong, and even Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia) will tell you that. So, So, So Squicky!!

Day 27 - A pairing that you loved and ended up hating?

For this I have to go with another Friends pairing, this time Chandler & Monica.

Back in the beginning of Friends, Chandler was always my favourite character. He was simply hilarious, and I still use some of his one-liners to this day, whenever I get the chance. When they paired him up with Monica in the London episodes? Loved it! They were so funny and cute together... and then I got bored. I got so painfully bored of the hybrid Mondler creature they seemed to become. There were times it was as if they morphed into one person, and other times when I was just hating her for telling him his jokes weren't funny, etc. It just became boring and awkward for me, and I wished they'd never got together. I'm probably the only one who feels that way, but thats how it is.

Day 26 - A pairing that you hated and ended up loving?

The only pairing I can think of that kind of fits this is Cordy & Angel.

I don't think I can say I ever hated the idea of these two together, more that it didn't make sense to me and I wasn't comfortable with it. I kept thinking, if Angel was so devoted to Buffy, how could he be with Cordy? Doesn't that just make her second best? Then I got to thinking about Doyle, because initially I was all about Cordy/Doyle, until of course the character died, and there wasn't even any chance of resurrection later, as with so many other Jossverse characters, when poor Glenn Quinn passed away in real life.

So, by the time we got well into Season 3, I was coming around to the idea that both Angel & Cordy should be allowed to move on (I actually prefer the idea of Angel not being so hung up on Buffy, since I've been a Spuffy shipper forever! lol) and I really wanted them to work. I hated suddenly teenaged Connor screwing it up!

In Season 5, when Cordy wakes from her coma (or rather doesn't but appears to) and comes back to help Angel one last time before she must go, well, the kiss good bye almost broke my heart! I wanted them to get happy ever after when it was all too late for it to happen *sigh*

Day 25 - A pairing that was/would-be adorable, but could never work out?

For a while, I actually thought these two would work out, but it wasn't to be, so my answer is Phoebe & Joey.

There was more than one moment when they seemed to connect in such a way that they looked destined. Both had such an odd way about them, and yet they always made sense to each other. Plus there was a few kisses between these two that made me squee! lol They would have been totally adorable and cute together, but in the end I guess Phoebe did belong with Mike, and maybe Joey really wasn't the settling down kind *sigh*

Day 24 - A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out badly?

This one really didn't take much thinking about at all; the answer has to be Duncan/Veronica/Logan... or maybe I should go for the whole pentagon... Meg/Duncan/Veronica/Logan/Lilly.

Veronica Mars found herself in the middle of a whole lot of messes over the three seasons she was on TV, but nothing ever got quite so screwed up as her complicated love life!

Veronica started out dating Duncan Kane, whilst his sister Lilly Kane (who was also Veronica's best friend) dated Logan Echolls. Duncan dumped Veronica because he found out there was a possibly she was his half sister, thanks to an affair between his Dad and her Mom. Shortly after this, Lilly meets her death at the hands of Logan's father, Aaron, who she has been secretly sleeping with behind her boyfriends back (plus she was having even more bouncy fun with Weevil, head of the local biker gang!)

So, Logan and Veronica pretty much hate each other for most of the first season and then their angry passion turns to sexual passion and much making out ensues. Before long they realise they are actually in love, and Duncan has by now moved on to dating good girl, Meg Manning.

Unfortunately, happiness never lasts long in Neptune. Veronica breaks up with Logan after he gets accused of murder and changes into someone she can't handle, and Meg & Duncan break up because she knows she's second best. This leads to a Veronica/Duncan reunion... until Meg is involved in a bus crash and everyone finds out she's pregnant whilst she's still in a coma!

Next thing you know, there's a baby girl in the world courtesy of a C-section, Meg is dead, and Duncan is forced to leave Veronica behind and go on the run with his baby because Meg's abusive parents want the child and he can't let that happen!

It looked like Veronica & Logan were at least going to get a happy ending together, but after quite a few issues regarding trust and all, he made the ultimate mistake and in one of the many 'off' periods in their on-again off-again relationship, Logan slept with Madison Sinclair, Veronica's worst enemy (she was partially repsonsible for Veronica being raped years before, amongst other things).

And so from the five people that started this love pentagon, the third and final season ended with two people dead, one on the run, and a rather ambiguous situation between the two left behind. Yes, I rambled a lot, but I think I have made my point! lol

Day 23 - A crazy love triangle/quadrilateral that worked out great?

So many choices, but I think the triangle/quadrilateral... or should that be pentagon?... that worked out best was Eric/Donna/Hyde/Jackie/Kelso

In Season 1, Hyde and Eric were vying for Donna's attention. I wanted Hyde to win because I liked him better, but it was soon clear Eric & Donna belonged together.

So that might've left Hyde lonely, but just as soon as it was looking that way, Kelso started screwing around and Jackie dumped him. Hyde was there for Jackie, she fell for him, he fell for her, and later my favourite pairing happened - Jackie/Hyde!

I ended up loving Eric/Donna and wanting them to be happy ever after, but not quite as much as I adored Jackie/Hyde. Kelso got a girl named Brooke pregnant and they got along well enough. It was all about the happy!

So yeah, just so long as I continue to pretend that the end of Season 7 was different plus the whole of Season 8 never happened, its all good ;-)

Day 22 - A pairing you hate and no one else understands why?

I have very few pairings that I really hate and even fewer that are difficult to understand why... Still, I'm not having another day where I can't answer the question so, I'm going with Fred & Gunn.

For me, Fred was crushing on Angel when he first saved her from Pylea, whilst Wesley was clearly into Fred. Gunn started to like Fred too, and all of a sudden they were dating, but they just didn't work for me. I do wonder if Joss just put them together to increase the tension and twist up the dynamics of the team, etc. as he so loves to do. Anyway, the point is for me that Gunn and Fred were just far too different to ever work out. Sure, opposites attract, but I never felt like they really understood each other or even truly believed themselves that they belonged together. The chemistry just wasn't there and I really disliked them as a pairing. Of course when Fred and Wes finally got it together like I wanted, they had Illyria take over her body and Fred died. Sucks to have my ships sometimes! lol

Day 21 - A pairing you like and no one else understands why?

For the second day running I am stumped!

For all the weird and wacky ships I have ever sailed, I've always found at least a couple of people who are onboard with me over at FF.net.

So yeah, another boring 'not applicable' today... *sigh*

Day 19 - A pairing you've rooted for since the beginning?

There's more than one answer to so many of these questions, this one is no exception, but the one pair I can remember wishing would get together from almost Day One, way past the point where it ever really would've happened, was Chloe & Lex.

From episode 1, Chloe Sullivan was my favourite character in Smallville. I could identify way more with the spunky wannabe-reporter than the perfect princess that was Lana Lang. Chloe loved Clark, so for her sake I wanted Chlark to happen... for all of five minutes! Then I realised she and Lex Luthor would make a much better pairing! Clark was too dumb and oblivious for a girl like Chloe. She needed someone smarter, older, that could match her wit and intelligence, and keep her on her toes. Lex had plenty of arm candy, but they usually bored him. He needed a challenge, and someone to keep him in line when he looked like he was gonna step over. Like most Chlexers (Chloe/Lex shippers) I believed that Chloe could save Lex from the darkside... or that maybe he might drag her into his underworld, 'cause that would've been fine too ;-)

Of course, the writers screwed up everything. Season 3 things were looking good, Chloe & Lex were getting really close, then suddenly from Season 4 on it was like they were never even friends. Later they became enemies and then Lex was killed off... I gave up watching Smallville and lived only on fanfic and fanvids. My hearts not really in it anymore, but for 7 years or more, I was a hardcore Chlex shipper.

Day 18 - What is the cutest pairing?

As with so many of these question, I could have given multiple answers, but finally I narrowed it down to Willow & Oz.

My major ship for Buffy the Vampire Slayer was always Buffy/Spike, and for the most part I was cool with whoever the other main characters wanted to date - Willow/Oz, Willow/Tara, Willow/Xander, Xander/Cordy, Xander/Anya - it was all good, but the shy little would-be witch and the werewolf who was more afraid of himself than anybody else way back in Seasons 2 & 3 were just so adorable together!

Their love was undeniable, and I like to think that one day in the future they will meet again and be together, like when Willow is old and blue-haired, and turns a corner in Istanbul to find Oz there, just like they said when he left the final time in New Moon Rising :-)

Day 17 - A pairing you thought would never work out, but did?

I had a hard time thinking of an answer for this one, and then my newest boxset of dvds showed up in the post and I got an idea: Lorena & Sly.

Anybody remember way back in the days of Saved By the Bell, there was also a very similar show called California Dreams? lol Oh, how I loved it. I was obsessed with Jake Sommers for the most part, but thats not the point. The point is, Sly never seemed like he would ever be a decent enough person to have a girlfriend, and all his attempts to get Jenny, Tiffany, Sam, etc. ultimately failed. His apparent obsession with Lorena was going to ba another disaster surely! But no, she broke up with Jake and then Sly saw his chance. The girl with money and the guy obsessed with money actually made a pair that stuck it out to the end of the series if I remember rightly. So yeah, never seemed feasible, til it happened, then it was darn cute! ;-)

Day 16 - What is the absolute worst pairing?

This is tough because there really aren't that many pairings that I really cant stand, but then I thought, omg, the worst just has to be Sheldon & Amy.

I have loved The Big Bang Theory for three long seasons, I was so excited for Season 4, and then they make the overly annoying Amy a main character and most of Sheldon's screen time is spent with the pain-in-the-butt girl! I almost want to switch off! I really can't stand her, I think she ruins the group dynamic, and since Sheldon has made it very clear she's a girl and a friend but not his girlfriend, I really wish she'd just bog off!

Here endeth the rant.

Day 15 - What is your favorite real life pairing?

I don't so much keep up with celebrity couples, who for the most part seem to be breaking up and making up, etc. all the damn time. However, there is one pair I like enough to give them a 'favourite' title: Alyson & Alexis.

Whilst Willow was never a favourite character on Buffy, I had great respect for Alyson Hannigan as an actress because of the range she showed over seven seasons, and then I followed her to How I Met Your Mother and loved her in that too. As for Alexis Denisof, I came to love his character Wesley on Angel, and once again he proved what an awesome actor he really is.

As a couple, these two are just so incredibly cute, and perhaps even cuter now with their little baby girl. I follow Alyson on Twitter and I love hearing about her happy family life with Alexis and Satyana (hope I spelt that right...). They seem so down to Earth and normal for celebs, and I love that too :-)

Day 14 - What is your favorite book pairing?

This one was easy, because honestly I'm not much for the novel reading, so I have very few fiction books that I love enough to really love the couples in them. My choice for fave book pairing has to be a classic, and it is Darcy & Elizabeth.

I actually fell in love with the pairing watching the BBC's 1995 adaptation of Pride & Prejudice, but then I did read the book and that only made me love them all the more! What could be better than a free-spirited young woman and a lonely rich man who teach each other a little about the world and everything about love? P&P is without question my favourite Jane Austen book and so this question was one of the easiest to answer on this meme :-)

Day 13 - What is your favorite television pairing?

Okay, so I'm taking this to mean my favourite pairing in a current TV show, in which case its definitely Eliot & Parker!

They're not together on the show and even Christian Kane (who plays Eliot, for those that don't know) has said that it couldn't ever happen, but I will not believe it! They have such chemistry - they just belong together.

Right now, this is my fave pair to write and read in fanfiction, and since the TV show is actually still running I can live in hope that one day it might just happen and these two will actually be together in some way on screen - fingers crossed! ;-)

Day 12 - Who had the best wedding?

I don't know if its the best one ever, but I remember being thrilled to see the wedding of Kelly & Zack! lol

Yeah, I know, kinda sad maybe, but I loved Saved by the Bell when I was a kid, and after all the ups and downs that these two went through over five Seasons of 'Saved By The Bell' in high school, and a year of 'The College Years' as well, it was about time they got a happily ever after :-)

Day 11 - What is your dream pairing?

There were several ways to look at this question and therefore several answers I could have given, but at the end of the day my answer had to be River & Jayne.

I ship couples that actually happened, and I ship couples that may yet happen. Rayne never did happen and now pretty much never can in canon, therefore they exist purely in fanworks and in my dreams, ergo my dream pairing ;-)

Day 10 - Why aren't these two married in real life?

I wasn't really sure how this question was meant, but I went with the most obvious interpretation and the answer I came up with was Kaley Cuoco & Jim Parsons.

Whilst many say the characters of Penny & Sheldon on The Big Bang Theory would never work as a couple (I think they probably could) in real life these two just get along so well! Every cast interview or convention panel I have seen on YouTube, these two just seem to close and friendly. I wouldn't be at all surprised to hear they were together in real life... oh yeah, 'cept for the fact that most sources say Jim is gay! lol Ah well, I guess that answers the question why they aren't married then ;-)
