[100 Things] My DVD Collection: Hairspray [2007] & High School Musical

Please don't judge me for owning High School Musical! Everybody had seen it but me and I just figured I'd give it a shot... and it wasn't THAT bad! Some of the songs are catchy and fun, its good for a giggle if nothing else, even the acting is a bit over-the-top and all.

As for Hairspray, with all the great actors and actresses taking part, I was pretty sure this couldn't fail to be an awesome movie - and I was right, I love it! Somehow, Zac Efron is suddenly hot in this movie, where in HSM he was barely cute to me. John Travolta is epic as Edna Turnblad, and Christopher Walken as her husband cracks me up. Add to that Michelle Pfeiffer and Brittany Snow as mother and daughter bitch queens, Queen Latifah, Amanda Bynes, James Marsden, et al - there is so much talent to execute excellent songs, dance routines, and scenes.

Lets not forget Nikki Blonksy, the new up and coming actress who stars as Tracy Turnblad, the larger girl who wants to be a star, and makes it in spite of the odds!

For singing along and having a good time in general, I turn to these movies and say 'Why not?'

And another proof of my age...because nope, I haven't seen Hairspray...at least not THIS version. I've seen an older version from (I had to check imdb for that) 1988. Can't say I remember much...but I guess it was fun?

High school musical is also on my "nope, didn't see that one" list. I stumbled into part ? (definitely not 1) on a Sunday afternoon on TV while I was ironing and all my boys were somewhere else. And honestly? I switched back to watching old Leverage episodes really fast...:)

The original Hairspray was... odd, lol. It wasn't so spangley and musical and all. I prefer the new remake :)

HSM was one of those things I just had to see because everyone had seen it. Its okay, but strangely I prefer the sequel... and then they made a 3rd one and that was just lame. Always, ALWAYS, pick Leverage over any HSM ;)

Okay, truth time, I have all 3 HSMs on dvd too! lol Honestly, its the 2nd one I like best, and I don't even know why... its just fun, and the songs are way too catchy.

Zac Efron is so cute its wrong! And even I'm too old for him, honey! But damn, cuteness, especially in Hairspray *sigh*
