[100 Things] My DVD Collection: Veronica Mars: Season 1 & Veronica Mars: Season 3

When I first watched Veronica Mars, I wasn't sure I was going to like it. The first season boxset was a Christmas gift from a friend, and whilst he told me if I liked Buffy, I'd love this, I wasn't convinced. I was never into crime drama and all that - Veronica Mars surprised me.

This show had all the best parts of a fun High School show, plus the drama and intrigue of weekly mysteries, solved by a girl who could kick butt both verbally and physically - I loved it!

Season 1 was the best season for me and quite honestly, everything went downhill and disappointed me in Season 2. Given the way the other fans reacted to Season 3, saying it was even worse than Season 2, I wasn't even sure whether I wanted to get the 3rd boxset. The serial rapist storyline hadn't thrilled me in The Rapes of Graff episode, I wasn't sure I wanted more of that stuff, but whats a fan to do?

In the end, I bought it and watched it, and I think I've come to appreciate the kind of grown up Veronica Mars of Season 3 even more than the 'blah' Season 2. Its emotional, its interesting, its well done... even if the ending kind of left us all hanging... but Season 1 will always be the best to me, no doubt.

I actually liked Seasons 1 and 2. And season 3 was okay, but I seriously wish there had been more to the show. Maybe one day there will be a movie. Veronica Mars: FBI.

Maybe there will. That'd be very cool... so long as Veronica ended up with Logan, 'cause thats the way it has to be ;)

It sounds like a good show. I'm usually not very much into crime shows either. The only one I watched (which was AGES ago lol) was Remington Steele.

This is much less a crime show than it first seems. Veronica is a kick-butt kind of a girl, which I like :)

I totally agree! Season 1 is absolutely the best. I mean I'm probably a long way from the target group, but I enjoyed it the most. The thing I disliked most about Season 2 was the boyfriend changing thing. I know it eventually happens in almost every show, they couple them up, break them up, couple them up with someone else...but I HATE it in my favorite shows, because they're usually not about that. Okay, I'll stop my rambling before it takes over.

I'm not sure what the target group would be, but I guess teens, in which case I'm too old for it too really... saying that, my Mum likes it to so... whatever! lol

The boyfriend change in Season 2 bugged me too. The bus crash stuff felt too dragged out, and I spent the whole Season waiting for Logan & Veronica to get back together, suffering through Veronica/Duncan and Logan/Kendall and Logan/Hannah - ick!

Season 1 is soooo the best! :)
