I like all kinds of musicals, from the old to the ultra-modern. These are 80s musicals that fall somewhere in the middle, both focused on dancing, which I have no skill in at all but love to do!
Doubtless we all know the plots to these movies, but just in case... in Dirty Dancing, young holiday-maker Frances 'Baby' Houseman meets tough dance teacher Johnny Castle and falls in love as he teaches her to dance, whilst in Footloose, rebel Ren McCormick challenges the local preacher over the ban on dancing and popular music in town, at the same time capturing the heart of the preacher's daughter, Ariel.
The love stories are beautiful, the music is wonderful, the dancing makes you want to get up and join in yourself! These are feel good movies with music you'll be singing along to forever! I love the soundtrack albums as much as the movies themselves. These are just classics!
