Shipping the MCU

When I first got into the MCU via Avengers Assemble (aka The Avengers) I didn't really think much about shipping. As I went back and watched Phase 1, I liked some canon ships (Tony/Pepper, Steve/Peggy) and some others, not so much (didn't like Jane enough to ship Thor/Jane, didn't care about pre-Ruffalo Hulk, tbh) but fanfic got me into a whole bunch of non-canon ships. I liked the idea of Nat/Clint back then, and actually, I really enjoyed Bruce/Darcy! lol

Then Phase 2 came along, and a friend got me into Steve/Nat, plus I read some Loki/Jane and some Darcy/(insert name here) because, good grief, she got paired with just about everyone for a while! lol

Then, somewhere along the line, I discovered Bucky/Nat, and oh my goodness, there's just no going back from that!!!

I always loved Bucky in all his incarnations. I mean, it doesn't hurt that Sebastian Stan is as hot as the sun, but Bucky's just such a complex and wonderful character. I always liked Natasha too, for similar character-depth reasons, actually. Plus they both kick ass, which is fun too ;) It came as a surprise to me that they actually were a couple in the comics, but it does make sense, and I really wish there was the opportunity for something to happen with them in the MCU. I've seen interviews where Sebastian talks about wanting 'WinterWidow' to happen, so that's great :)

So, yeah, after three phases of films and a lot of fanfiction reading (plus some writing) I found my MCU ship. Bucky/Nat, WinterWidow, whatever you want to call it - that's my MCU OTP. And yes, I know, it's kind of ruined at this point because of Endgame, and I don't even know what's happening in The Falcon & The Winter Soldier, or what the Black Widow film might throw up, but it's still my MCU OTP and I'm sticking to it ;)

I never had a solid Natasha ship, though I do ship Natasha/Clint and I liked Natasha/Sam after TWS, and I also ship her with a bunch of women (Pepper most of all) but I too have always liked the idea of MCU Bucky/Nat. They just have so much shared trauma and aesthetically they would make for a very attractive couple. It is a shame we didn't get any hint of it or the past they had in the comics. If they hadn't killed her off in Endgame, she could have made an appearance in TFATWS. I am a diehard Sam/Bucky shipper, ever since before CACW but I know it will never happen, so that would have been great.

Black Widow is apparently set after the Civil War movie, which makes it all the dumber that they waited this long to release it. It should have come out five years ago. :\

I never really thought of Bucky/Sam as a ship. I wrote some Steve/Bucky leaning fic for a friend of mine a while back, and I can see how that could work, but yeah, Bucky/Sam never occurred to me somehow. Interesting.

Honestly, I haven't read much about the Black Widow film so I didn't know it was set that far back in the saga. Very strange choice to do that now, but okay. I'll probably get around to seeing it at some point, as and when it comes to DVD. I'm not a streaming service person, so I may never get a chance to see The Falcon and The Winter Soldier anyway.

They gained some traction after CW but of course, TFATWS made them more popular. I know Steve/Bucky is the most popular MCU ship within fandom, but I preferred Steve/Peggy after watched TFA. For some reason, I never seem to ship the "best friends to lovers" ships. I like friends to lovers, and I especially lean toward frenemies/bickering friends to lovers more.

Yeah, it has been in talks for a while and I guess if they had to set in present, that is the last stop. Can't set it after IW. Only other option is pre MCU, which would've worked but I guess they didn't want to go full origin story. I will probably see it too, depending when it comes out.

I'm not a streaming service person, so I may never get a chance to see The Falcon and The Winter Soldier anyway.
Yeah, I have a few, but there are way too many to keep up with. I don't have Disney+ anymore. Unless you want to download it, and then there are options available.

I'm a Steve/Peggy girl myself, for the most part (I have issues with how they ended up together after Endgame, but that's a whole other thing!) but when that seemed impossible, I did ship Peggy/Daniel when watching Agent Carter too.

In other fandoms, I am a sucker for a frenemies to lovers trope, so I totally get you on that one.

I used to download shows waaay back in the day, but I wouldn't even know where to go for that these days and given the number of dodgy places on the web, it's not something I would dare to Google and just click on any old link! lol

I was fine with their Endgame ending, and that probably had part to do with the fact I didn't care for Peggy/Daniel in Agent Carter (I liked and shipped Peggy/Angie though) so I loved that they got their dance and happy ending in at least one timeline. Steve moving on and being comfortable in the present would have been nice but they never really seemed to establish that and the most they tried was in TWS.

DW has a community called thevault, where people post download links daily for TV shows and movies. I haven't tried it but I haven't read about any problems within the comm either, if you are interested. :)
