Review: Timeless Finale - Part 1 of 2

I've been waiting for this, impatiently, since before it even aired in the US (Christmas 2018), and so far... I'm not sure I like it.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy to have any kind of finale. At least it will come to a proper end (when I can see Part 2 next week) but I can't help feeling they've had to stuff a lot of stuff that should have played out over a season into a TV movie and the plot and characters are suffering for it.
It seems pretty clear that we're going for a Lucy/Wyatt happy ending, which I guess I can't mind too much. I did ship it once, before Lucy/Flynn proved to have a lot more chemistry! I give the writers their due, they gave Lucy/Flynn their romance, (albeit in a timeline that no longer exists? I think I have that right, but all the timeline paradox stuff gets a little much to handle sometimes! lol) but I would've liked to have seen it... some part of it... one kiss? I have this hope that in Part 2 somehow I'll get something, like Lucy goes back and sees Flynn one last time and they get a kiss and a goodbye maybe? Shipping like I do makes me never want to give up hope! lol
Flynn's death wasn't a shock as such since somebody inadvertently told me it would happen, but I was surprised by how soon it happened. It closes a loop with regards to Jessica and apparently she was never pregnant so it killed a lot of birds with one stone. Still, I can't really be okay with it happening, because I just didn't want Flynn to die! I do love that, if he had to go, he died to save Rufus and the team. It was far from a pointless death, it was a hero's sacrifice, and the letter he left for Lucy was beautiful. The toast where the team all recognised him as a friend, a hero, and called him Garcia, that was cool.
So, now the rest of the gang are in Korea, about to get in a helicopter with the guy that Emma paid off with gold, and Agent Christopher & Connor have seen photos of them all dead. Well, it doesn't bode well, but I can't imagine for a moment that they all will die there. I doubt any of them will actually.
What do I hope for Part 2? Probably more than I'll realistically get! lol I'm obviously not getting a Lucy/Flynn ending (that's what fanfic is for) but I do hope they see each other once more somehow for a proper goodbye. I hope for the end of Rittenhouse. I hope that Lucy gets Amy back. I'd actually like for Jiya to never have had to go through whatever she went through in Chinatown too, but I don't think that can be fixed. Mostly, I'm looking forward to seeing the real end, just so I can go forth and read all the fanfic that fixes the parts I don't like, and maybe even write my own.
(Tune in next Wednesday for my review of Part 2)
