[100 Things] My DVD Collection: How I Met Your Mother & The Big Bang Theory

To the best of my knowledge, these two shows began airing around about the same time. I expected them both to be good; HIMYM because it had Alyson Hannigan and Jason Segel, both of whom I knew I liked and found funny from other shows, and TBBT because it was about geeks, of which I am one!

The Big Bang Theory continues to me one of my all time favourite shows. From the original premise of two genius scientist geeks living across the hall from a pretty waitress from Nebraska, we now have a whole cast of varied guys and gals, from the geeks and nerds, to the 'normal' and pretty, and everything in between.

On the reverse side, I gave up with How I Met Your Mother at Season 4. I love the comedy, I love the characters, but I just couldn't stand how stretched out the story became! Ted Moseby has now been telling his children the story of how he met their mother for 6 years?! Its becoming silly, in fact, it became silly a couple of seasons ago, and I just can't stand it anymore!

If and when we ever find out who these kids mother really is, somebody let me know. In the meantime, I'll be watching Penny wind-up Leonard and Sheldon over their geekiness, and laughing like a drain about it! ;)

Look at that, something I know! And I've on occasion watched both, who knew.

I think I gave up on HIMYM already way before you did, because seriously? How long can that be interesting? And waiting for years so it'll be someone we'll see for the first time in the last episode? I don't think so.

TBBT runs at times when hubby turns on the TV...and I end up getting distracted while doing something else on my laptop. It's a lot of fun, though I don't really follow it. I simply don't have time for that!

But yeah, HIMYM got old quite quickly. I only stuck around as long as I did for Barney, 'cause he cracked me up! lol

I have some second-hand experience with these shows because some lovely people on my f-list love them ^^

I've heard that about HIMYM. For the sake of its fans I hope that the mother will be revealed before the show gets cancelled lol

I'm with you on HIMYM, I still catch an occasional ep, but it's not as good as it was in the beginning. As for TBBT I love, love love it. There's more stories to be told with TBBT than with HIMYM.

The more of these things you post the more I realize we have way more than just Christian in common. Yesterday it was Oklahoma, today it's Big Bang Theory. We really should be best friends.

Thats the one scene I want to see, the part where we actually meet the mother! Maybe in a few years, I'll catch it on YouTube, so long as they don't cancel it before that happens, like you said! lol

I hung around as long as I did on HIMYM for Barney, and more specifically Barney/Robin. Then hey broke up, I got very bored, and I stopped watching.

TBBT isn't the same show it used to be either, but its grown and changed in a good way, so thats okay :)

You mean we're not best friends?! :P Seriously though, I love finding out that I have even more in common with the peops on my F-list than I thought. Its very cool :)

Not that its a bad thing that we have Christian in common ;)

How I Met Your Mother is great though. It had a bit of a wobbly bit around season 4 when it became the Barney and Robin show for a bit, and I think they lost their way plot wise, but it's really upped its game again this last season or two.

We've been given an event which we meet her at now though, so it's just on the build up to that!

It's been given a total of 8 seasons, which is when Jason Segel has said he wants to call it a day, so it'll be by then! It's handily a safe bet for the next couple of years.
