When I ran out of Buffy the Vampire Slayer to watch, I moved on to Angel. The first Season was so good! I loved the character of Doyle, and cried when his untimely death came around mid-season. Wesley, who I had really disliked on Buffy, became the hilarious and awesome Rogue Demon Hunter later on. Cordelia showed another side to herself as she learnt to deal with a grown-up life in the demon-infested world. Somehow I started to genuinely like Angel as a character.
There were a couple of episodes I could have lived without, and some of the characters (read: Detective Kate Lockley) did not hold my interest. However, I liked the whole battle against Wolfram & Hart, Lindsey and Lilah were wonderful characters, and when Darla returned in the finale, I was totally ready for Season 2!
I was not disappointed with the twists and turns of the 2nd Season. Darla and Dru on the rampage and the twisted triangle between Angel/Darla/Lindsey were probably highlights for me, but the whole season is equal parts good fun and high drama. The last little arc in Pylea may have been unpopular with some fans, but I loved it, and then we met Fred, who amused me to no end.
Of all Seasons of Angel, with the many ups and downs they brought, there is very little I can fault in these first two seasons, and I still enjoy a good rewatch every once in a while.
