Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life - Reaction Post
So, I have now finally seen all four parts of the Gilmore Girls revival. Wow. Where to begin? I guess at the beginning...

Winter
I expected to find this one hard to swallow. Due to Edward Hermann's death, Richard Gilmore had to be gone and everyone had to deal. My family isn't so very similar to the Gilmores. Sure, my mum had me young, but she was married, and her family always supported her - my nan is all kinds of awesome and nothing like Emily - plus we don't drink that much coffee! lol However, we are three women of three generations who had to deal with my grandad's death, the 9th anniversary of which was the Christmas Day just gone by. Yeah, I could see pain hitting me during 'Winter', but it was okay. There were some nice moments, and also some painful ones. It felt like Gilmore Girls for me, in a lot of ways. I didn't like that Rory was being Logan's affair AND lying about it. I did actually quite like the running joke of Paul the boyfriend everyone forgot, even though that probably shouldn't be funny (and it got old in later episodes). Luke & Lorelai were still together, Kirk & Lulu were still together, the townsfolk were present. It was okay. (But I missed Jess, because I'm a fangirl and I can't help it! lol)

Spring
This one I liked for the most part. Still not comfortable with Rory & Logan, not so much because I don't ship it but becaise she's the affair... again... like she was for Dean, and that's not good, not healthy. Our Rory is worth more than that! I felt bad for her with the whole job thing, but I knew she would figure it out eventually. Loved seeing Paris and Doyle, but didn't see the kids coming, and really wasn't okay with them being on the way to divorce! With Luke & Lorelai starting to lie to each other too, I saw things starting to come apart at the seams and I got uncomfortable... and still, no Jess.

Summer
Least favourite. Didn't like it. Sorry, folks, but to me this barely felt like Gilmore Girls at all. What happened? What in the heck was that musical thing about? I mean, I got the joke. The joke was that it was supposed to suck and Lorelai knew it sucked but everyone else thought it was awesome because hey, it's Stars Hollow, but that's a five minute joke. It went on and on and on for like twenty minutes. Maybe it was just me but I winced through the whole thing, not just because it was supposed to be bad but because it felt so dragged out. Then everything was just... bad. Lorelai fighting with Luke, Rory fighting with Lorelai, everybody getting mad at everybody else, and Michel leaving, and pain. It was... painful. I didn't enjoy it. I barely enjoyed the Rory/Jess scene because I think I wanted it to be more than what I saw in the trailer and it sort of wasn't. I know, he pitched her the book idea and that was a turning point, and I love that. I love that he came in and helped fix it again, and I love the way that happened, but for the most part it just felt like everything in this episode was about tearing stuff apart and my only hope was that it was to rebuild again when the destruction was over...

Fall
Thank you. Thank you, Amy & Dan, for doing what I hoped you'd do. For fixing everything you seemed to have torn asunder in Summer and even before. Rory broke up with Logan for the final time, it had to happen, and boy did it happen well. The Life & Death Brigade boys did themselves proud and I loved it! Lorelai went on her hike that wasn't a hike and she found herself - she fixed things with Emily (with a story about her dad that had me blubbing), she fixed things with Luke and wanted to marry him at last (more blubbing), and she let Rory write the book because she understood why she had to (a little more blubbing). The wedding happened, it finally happened, and Kirk made it perfect - I love that. Loved seeing Sookie, even loved seeing Dean and knowing he was happy with a family of his own. Really loved seeing Jess looking at Rory, knowing he still loves her and never got over her despite what he told Luke - I can fanfic from that, and it'll be good ;) And those last words. I've been predicting since the moment they said the revival was coming what those words would be and my final guesses were that either we would end on Rory telling Lorelai or Lorelai telling Rory 'I love you' OR Rory admitting she's pregnant. Right on that second choice, wasn't I? It makes so much sense. We came full circle. The story began with pregnant Lorelai and now it ends with pregnant Rory. Rory was raised by lone Lorelai and then she married Luke. Rory will raise her baby the same way, and in my head, she will then marry Jess. Maybe Amy doesn't see it that way or maybe she does, but that's my head-canon and I'm sticking to it. History repeated. Why not? ;)

I've been wait not so patiently for you to finish watching!! I agree with most of your comments. As much as I love Logan, I felt they didn't do him or Rory justice by making her an affair. In my brain, the baby is his and he ends up leaving the society girl and marrying the woman he's always loved, Rory. Jess was the maturest of all her exes, but I would expect nothing less from him.

Overall, I liked something about each episode (agree with you about the horror of the musical though). Now, I'm ready for 4 more episodes!! LOL

You agree with most but not all? Hmm, I'm guessing anything I said pertaining to Rory needing to end up with Jess rather than Logan? ;) I'm glad you don't support Rory being Logan's affair though - I didn't think you'd want them together THAT way!

Hmm, I could watch more, but actually I'm okay with things as they are for now... I can fix the parts I don't like with fanfic, and you know I will too! lol

I never expected you to want Rory with anyone other than Jess!! LOL...at least we can both agree that her not being with Dean was a good thing?

You got it, hon. Y'know, I actually really liked the Rory & Dean scene in 'Fall'. I kinda love knowing he got a happy ending of his own. He wasn't all bad :)
